WELCOME NEWCOMER LADY GOLFERS!! We are a low key group of golfers who play on Wednesday at the Chatham Seaside Golf Course from April thru October, and some of our members play on thru the winter months. Chatham Seaside Links does not require T Times. So, if you want to play on a given Wednesday, all you have to do is show up at the designated time. There is no obligation to play a certain number of days. You can play every week or once a season. See below for start times which vary from month to month. We have occasional golf 'field trips' to another course and usually this is done in the spring or early summer and in the fall. You need not have a handicap to play in our 'league', but need to be a Conch or Newcomer member and be current with you dues. You also need to have knowledge of the rules of golf and golf etiquette, and should have played golf previously. If you haven't, but would like to become a member of our league, take some clinics and instruction prior to setting out on the course, and make some visits to the driving range. Many of our local courses offer instruction. Our members' skill level varies. Some are more consistent than others, but we ALL struggle on the course at times. It is the nature of the beast! Some players keep score, others don't. That is entirely up to you. Chatham Links is a GHIN rated course, so you can accumulate scores there if you wish to obtain a handicap. Sometimes members bring a guest, particularly in the summer. It seems to work fine, as long as our numbers permit. Please arrive at the course PROMTLY five or ten minutes before the start time, so that golf chairwomen can formulate threesomes and foresomes, as needed. And, in order to do that we need to know the total number of players for the day. The line up is pretty much first come, first play. But at the same time golfers are encouraged to play with different people weekly. Usually we have coffee at The Bakery on Crowell Road or the Cafe on Old Harbor Road after golf. This gives us an opportunity to complain about our game or occasionally boast about our superior play. HA! Confer with your teammates re which location it is from week to week. There are a few course etiquette rules that are important to incorporate into your play. The management at Seaside have been exceedingly nice to our group and we want to continued to be viewed by them as a positive group. The most important of these rules is to keep up with the group in front of you! START TIMES:
(Note that July August and September have two separate start times. This helps with the larger numbers of players and also gives members the option of playing earlier or later. Once again, you just need to show up; you don't need to notify anyone that you are coming ahead of the day of play) However, for those of you coming for the very first time it probably is a good idea to call Grace Deleonardis at 430 2187 or myself Janice O'Neill 432 7294 and let us know. That way we will be sure to look out for you, introduce you and get you started on that first day. Contact person: Grace DeLeonardis 430-2187
